Building Women’s Employability Skills so They Can Afford Healthcare

Despite Uganda’s promotion of a Community Health Insurance (CHI) program in the 1990’s to provide low-cost healthcare, less than 1 percent of the population are members.  As part of Save for Health Uganda, one of the still-active CHI organizations, Prossy believes that women who have the skills to run their own businesses can save income, afford healthcare, and sustain their families’ basic needs.  Prossy plans to create a community-integrated center for 8,000 women in 12 areas of the Luweero District and teach them the skills of running small enterprises.
